I plan to travel to Washington State Spring of 2012. Where are the best places to travel?
I hear Seattle is great. I love walking around in a big city but I mostly love scenery. Any suggestions for both kinds of places?

Seattle has a lot of beautiful scenery almost everywhere you look. Most of the things you would probably want to see in Seattle are within walking distance of the downtown area or if not, you can easily get to them with public transportation. Here are some of the places most people enjoy: 1.The Pike Place Market: http://www.squidoo.com/Seattle-Pike-Place-Market 2. The Waterfront: You might enjoy taking a ride on a Washington State Ferry from the ferry landing on the Seattle waterfront to Bainbridge Island and back. 3. Take the Seattle Monorail: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-monorail from Westlake Center in the downtown area to the Seattle Center to see the EMP/Sci Fi Museum and The Space Needle: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-space-needle 4. Some other ideas might be to take a tour on "The Ducks", visit the Ballard Locks and Carl English Gardens: http://www.squidoo.com/seattle-ballard-locks or visit some of the parks like Volunteer Park or the Arboretum. Here is a link with some additional ideas: http://www.squidoo.com/visit-seattle-washington If you can, take a trip to the San Juan Islands: http://www.squidoo.com/San_Juan_Island. I would also highly recommend taking 2 to 3 days to go see the Olympic Peninsula/Olympic National Park: http://www.nps.gov/olym/index.htm Renting a car is usually the best way to see the Olympic Peninsula. Another great side trip is to go see Mt St. Helens: http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/mshnvm/ If you will be around in late March and April, there is a tulip festival up about an hour north of Seattle on I-5 in the Skagit River Valley which is gorgeous: http://www.tulipfestival.org/site Some other ideas: Drive about an hour and a half north up I-5 to Deception Pass and Whidbey Island. Closer to Seattle to the east not far off I-90 is Snoqualmie Falls.
