Answer 1 :
by plane 4 hours from DC to L.A
Answer 2 :
If he's flying, and it's a direct flight, between 4 and 5 hours, give or take. I've flown between LAX and BWI as well as between LAX and IAD (Dulles), and depending on the winds, they're about the same traveling time. But don't forget he'll want to pick up his baggage and get a ride to wherever he's staying, so it may be longer before he has a chance to text you.
Answer 3 :
4-6 hours, good luck.

jet
Answer 2 :
Seattle to Charlotte is 2,850 miles, divided by 24 hours is an average speed of about 119 miles per hour. I think you should call USAir.
Answer 3 :
You could have the Enterprise beam you there. LOL. Just kidding. My hubby has turned me into a total Trekkie (The Next Generation). You'd have to take a plane. Check out expedia.com or other sites like that. Sorry, there's no other way for you to get there in a day.

About cheapest way to travel from Washington DC to Montreal (Canada)

Cheapest way to travel from Washington DC to Montreal (Canada)?
I want to travel from Washington DC to Montreal, Canada during the Christmas break. Because of the holiday season, plane tickets are too expensive for me. I'm willing to travel by either train or bus. So far I've looked at Amtrak and Greyhound. But I was wondering if there are any other alternate companies for traveling?
Other - Canada - 4 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Take the airplane, trust me! If you sat on a bus or a train, it might be slightly cheaper but you'd be on there for about 9 hours! Remember, you're coming to Canada...it's not anywhere near Washington DC. Pick "West Jet" they're a good airline! Trust me, last time I went to Montreal (I live in Toronto) I flew there and it's so much worth the extra $20 or whatever the difference is! But please, TAKE THE AIRPLANE! Hope you enjoy Montreal...don't forget to visit Old Montreal (very interesting place) and make sure you take the Metro (the subway) its nothing like you've ever seen before! But don't forget your hat, scarf and gloves (Montreal is FREEZING in December)!
Answer 2 :
There is no real cheap way to get there as there are no direct lines from DC to Montreal. However, there are bus services that operate cheaply within the different chinatowns in large cities of the United States. So, for example: You may save some money (though certainly not time) if you take the Chinatown bus in Washington DC to Chinatown in New York City (roughly $20). Then, from New York (Port Authority) you'd be able to find some buslines that go to Montreal (like Peter Pan or Greyhound), perhaps even at discount.
Answer 3 :
I would fly. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
Answer 4 :
Yes, Coach Canada also has contracts with American bus companies that should connect to Montreal. The website is below. I would, however, strongly recommend flying or renting a car and driving yourself. The price will be comprable if you buy in advance and it will be a much faster trip.

About what's a cheap and easy way to travel to Washington State if you live in California

What's a cheap and easy way to travel to Washington State if you live in California?
I want to go visit someone in Granite Falls Washington and I live in Bakersfield California. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions on how I can do this? I don't care about comfort or anything just want it cheap as possible.

Answer 1 :
the train
Answer 2 :
Greyhound is the absolute least expensive way to go. Am-track is the the next less expensive if you go coach, a sleeper car will run you as much as a plane ticket.
Answer 3 :
Take a bus!!!...
Answer 4 :
The easiest & most cost effective way to make this trip would be to use an Amtrak San Joaquin train (mid afternoon departure) from Bakersfield to Sacramento and then transfer to the Coast starlight train north to Seattle. The trip costs only about $90 one way most days. Once in Seattle just take Sound Transit route #510 to Everett cost $2.50 including a free transfer, and then Community Transit route #280 from Everett to Granite Falls. Good Luck!

About how long does it take to travel from Washington DC to Manhattan by car? Any good carjourney planning websites

How long does it take to travel from Washington DC to Manhattan by car? Any good carjourney planning websites?
I'm considering driving from Washington DC to Manhattan. How long does it take by car? Are the roads congested? Which US websites are good for planning car journeys and getting directions?
Commuting - 7 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Check Mapquest.com, arguably the best site for directions, drive time, etc.
Answer 2 :
I've made that drive several times and it takes between 5 and 8 hours depending on traffic. If you're willing to leave really early in the morning, it can be cut down to 4 hours or so. Plus, it depends on your starting point. Trying it on a Friday night is a complete waste of time.
Answer 3 :
I'm not sure but you can use the following programs to help. Mapquest - Online with mapping instructions/directions from your house address to your destination address. Microsoft Streets & Trips - Available at Office Depot, Staples, etc. This software shows complete driving directions, turn by turn, also hotels, restuarants, etc., along the route. Shows mileage and approx. time to get there.... Also you might go on-line to the Chamber of Commerce for the destination city for more info...things to do, etc.
Answer 4 :
It'll take you about 6 1/2 hours, and you go straight up I-95.
Answer 5 :
mapquest.com is the one i use it gives you directions from point a to b.But you have to list the starting and ending points by address or business. It will also tell you at the top of the page how many hours it will take and how many miles.Dosent say anything about congestion you dont know that till you get there lol.
Answer 6 :
Google maps is the best for learning the surrounding areas, though from DC to Manhattan, you will get on 95 and follow signs. it's a very easy drive to navigate. The NJ turnpike and New York bridge/tunnels will rob you blind. If you have EZ pass, you'll save some time waiting in toll lines. With no traffic, it should take about 3 hours to Philadelphia, and another 1.5 hours to NYC. 95 is also a major truck route, and around this time of year, there is a lot of construction around major cities.
Answer 7 :
4 to 8 hours Have done it a dozen times map quest is way wrong dont go at or near rush hour or on a friday afternoon Amtrak is expensive but a lot less stress

Answer 3 :
yep as long as ur parnts don't mind
Answer 4 :
13-17 Optional $75 USD/CAD each way if service requested (for up to 3 travelers) No departures between 9pm and 5am. Gate escort/ Guardian contacts Required
Answer 5 :
im pretty sure
Answer 6 :
Airline rules for Children The best site is http://www.airsafe.com/kidsafe/kidrules.htm But there are many others. Here is a quote. You must contact the airline directly before purchasing a ticket for an unaccompanied minor. Most airlines allow unaccompanied minors to travel on their flights, but have special restrictions, so please check with the airline to confirm specific policies. Age restrictions vary by airline. In general, children under the age of 5 may never travel alone. Most airlines require unaccompanied minors services for children ages 5-14, and some even require it up through age 17. Additional fees apply (approximately $25 - $90 each way) and can be paid at check-in. For security reasons, most airlines do not allow unaccompanied minors to travel on the last connecting flight of the day. The specific flights which may be allowed vary by airline, so check directly with them prior to making a reservation. But if your sister is precocious you can just put her on the plane. They are not going to give you any static about her if she acts properly and seems to know what she is doing.
Answer 7 :
Yes, she can - and gate escorts will be provided for her, too: http://www.alaskaair.com/as/www2/help/faqs/ChildrenTravelingAlone.asp Since she's 14, you aren't obligated to pay the unaccompanied minor fee, but someone will still meet your sister at the gate to help her find her next flight, if needed. Hope that helps. :)
Answer 8 :
children travel alone all the time, they are called UM's or Unaccompanied Minors. The parents have to buy the ticket and arrange for an adult to pick them up. There are probably consent forms involved.

About what is the best way to travel from Boston to Washington DC? stay? see? eat

What is the best way to travel from Boston to Washington DC? stay? see? eat?
My husband, son and I plan to travel to Washington DC in April school vacation. Since we have never been to DC we'd like to plan ahead and have the best use of our time. We plan to drive there and not sure if its a good idea. Also where to stay so we can be nearby the White House or other attractions? Any suggestions as to where to stay, what to see and where to eat are greatly appreciated

Answer 1 :
We are going there on a School field trip also. We are staying at the Virginian Suites, and we will be touring the Smithsonian's (Natural History, American History, Air and Space) also the Holocaust Museum. We are spending most of our time in the National Mall, White House, Capitol (contact your senator or representative) Supreme Court, Library of Congress and the Arlington Cemetery. We will be eating at the Old Ebbit Grille and the Smithsonian Sculpture Garden (both reasonably priced and in the heart of DC) Hope you hav fun :)
Answer 2 :
That's so funny, my family is also planning to visit D.C from Boston this April vacation. We are planning to visit the Cherry Blossom festival, and driving.
Answer 3 :
Do drive, but leave your car at the hotel and trust Metro to take you to downtown and the wonderful D.C. attractions. Plan to stay in either the Virginia suburbs southwest of the city or in the Maryland suburbs to the north. The Hyatt in Bethesda is directly over the Metro station and is very reasonable, for instance. Don't worry about being too close to D.C.'s city center. The Metro is quick, safe and inexpensive. If you stay in Maryland select a hotel in Bethesda, Gaithersburg or Rockville. Just be sure to select one that is close to Metro or has a shuttle service. Our city is famous for its world class restaurants. Some of the ones with historic appeal are The Old Ebbitt and Ben's Chili Bowl. Both Pres. Obama and Bill Cosby has enjoyed Ben's and the Old Ebbitt is a tradition amongst Washington notables. There are tons of chain eateries, too, of course. Buy a 2 or 3 day pass with a professional tour company. If the weather's decent, try a Duck Tour. Lots of fun. Be sure the tour will allow you to board and reboard an unlimited number of times. Take the full tour and then hop off to check out the sites that interest you most. Some things to consider: Most museums, galleries, monuments and other attractions are totally free. Don't fall for anyone who tries to sell you a "ticket". Fun stuff includes a Potomac cruise on the Spirit of Washington or the Dandy. Lunch, brunch or dinner at the Roof Terrace Restaurant at the top of the Kennedy Center for the best view around. All of this is available online. Just check it out. Try Washingtontourism.com, Expedia.com and TripAdvisor.com. The last one includes customer ratings of hotels in the area.

About what is the best way to travel from Washington DC Intl Airport to UNVA Manassas Virginia

What is the best way to travel from Washington DC Intl Airport to UNVA Manassas Virginia?
I am planning to pursue a weekend MBA program from UNVA at Manassas in Virginia. My job requires me to travel and i intend to travel to the school on weekends. Is there any public transport available from Washington DC airports to University of Northern Virginia at Manassas , Virginia on Weekends (Saturday Sunday) Are there any cheap options available in the neighbourhood of the school available where you can bunk in for a night and go to school the next day ?
Washington, D.C. - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Your question got me interested. I've lived in this area for years and never heard of the University of Northern Virginia, so did some checking. Based on their website, it appears that while the school is licensed by Virginia, it is not accredited--at least by the mainstream accrediting organizations in the US. Were you aware of this? That doesn't necessarily mean that the school isn't good, but it does mean that many employers won't accept a degree from the school, nor can you easily transfer credits to another school. They also don't appear to advertise in the local media, and they have offices/campus overseas--it appears that they are targeting international students who want to get a visa to study in America, regardless of the school. As for transportation, it will be limited. While the Virginia Railway Express runs out to Manassas and there are also some commuter buses from DC to Manassas, service is weekdays only.

About what part of Ohio did George Washington travel to with his British Army Buddies

What part of Ohio did George Washington travel to with his British Army Buddies?
Just really wanting to learn more details about him. I have a few details of him in this World Almanac. Did he travel on a white horse there? What was their objective in Ohio territory? What age was he with the British Military? What was George Washington's rank? Any answers will be helpful!

"Choosing the envoy to carry the message to the French was a problem. The person had to handle a sensitive diplomatic mission but also make his way through hundreds of miles of Indian-occupied wilderness. George Washington, only 21 at the time, rode to Williamsburg and volunteered for the mission, using his contacts with the Fairfax family (who were shareholders in the Ohio Company) as a reference and citing his surveying experience in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. Washington was appointed to the job on October 31, 1753."
